Recognizing 52nd Anniversary of Its Release by José Feliciano

NEW YORK, N.Y., October 28, 2022—Italian Canadian-American musician, Michéal Castaldo, will release Feliz Navidad LII with a distinctive Reggaeton-Latin-Flamenco beat perfectly setting it to be discovered and appreciated by a worldwide audience in recognition of its original release by José Feliciano in 1970. Feliz Navidad LII will drop on Spotify and all major digital streaming platforms on November 4.

It brings a blend of musical cultures and includes whispers of Merry Christmas in 25 different languages by Castaldo fans from around the world, including Albanian, Afrikaan, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Welsh, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spnaish, Swahili, Norwegian, Latin, Lithuanian, Croatian, Dutch, Filipino, Ukranian, French, Greek, German, Polish, and English.

At the end of Feliz Navidad LII, Michéal Castaldo sings “JO-SE”—giving a respectful nod and honor to José Feliciano. The Official video of Feliz Navidad LII on YouTube will be Premiere on November 2.

Known for his crossover Italian ballads and Italian versions of popular hits from various genres, Castaldo and fellow Berklee alum, award-winning remixer Mystr E, have created another expressive and joyful remix dance groove that highlights the Reggaeton beat.

About the Recording Artist:

Michéal Castaldo was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, immigrated to Canada, and became a citizen with his family when he was a young boy. He studied music at Berklee College of Music in Boston. As a vocalist, he has toured North America and Europe, including performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Rainbow Room, Shea Stadium, Toronto’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre, and Italy’s Teatro F. Cilea and Pescara Opera House. Michéal Castaldo has been making New York City his home for the past 36 years.

The track also features award-winning musician Michelle Lewis and Steven Addabbo on background vocals. Michelle Lewis is an Emmy-winning songwriter and composer based in Los Angeles, and a highly influential music creators’ rights advocate as well. Steve Addabbo is a record producer, songwriter, and audio engineer who helped launch the careers of Suzanne Vega and Shawn Colvin. Flamenco guitar accompaniment was performed by Italian musician Francesco Grant-Energipsy. Francesco has shared the stage with the Gipsy Kings and Paco DeLucia and José Feliciano.

About the Cover Image Artist:

The cover image of Feliz Navidad LII was created by Mark Kostabi. He is best known for his paintings of faceless figures. Beyond traditional art world exposure, Kostabi has designed album covers for Guns N’ Roses (Use Your Illusion) and The Ramones (Adios Amigos!). He has designed numerous products, including a Swatch watch, Alessi vases, and a Giro d’Italia pink jersey. Kostabi’s work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Guggenheim Museum, Brooklyn Museum, National Gallery in Washington D.C., Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Yale University Art Gallery, National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, and the Groninger Museum in the Netherlands.

About the Engineer:

Elliott Thomas, aka Mystr-E, is a mix engineer and producer based out of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. After graduating from the Berklee College of Music, he moved to New York and began touring as a keyboardist for freestyle artists, The Cover Girls and Lissette Melendez. He then worked at several mid major studios as a recording and mix engineer and producer. His clients included Nona Hendryx, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Angie Stone, Monie Love, Asheru, Dres (Black Sheep), Mark Middleton (Blackstreet), Lumidee, Malik Pendleton, Prestige and Youngblood (The Hitmen), and others.
