Michéal Castaldo as Grand Marshall of the 2015 Columbus Day Parade
The East Hanover Italian American Club (EHIAC) announces Michéal Castaldo as the Grand Marshall for the 2015 Columbus Day Parade, which will be held in East Hanover, New Jersey, on Sunday, October 11.
Castaldo is also being honored as the EHIAC Music Achievement Award Recipient for his outstanding performances, arranging and composing talents, and for keeping the Italian language alive and in the forefront of entertainment and the arts. The award will be presented at the EHIAC Annual Columbus Day Dinner Dance on Friday, October 9, at the Hanover Manor, 16 Eagle Rock Avenue, East Hanover, New Jersey.
Michéal Castaldo is an Italian-born classical crossover tenor and light Italian opera singer, songwriter, composer, and music producer. His recent single, the Pray'r Duet, peaked at No. 2 on Amazon on January 27, 2015. His next digi-single, Toglimi il Respiro (Take My Breath Away), will be released on March 3 and available on Amazon, Spotify, and iTunes. The song’s release coincides with the 30th Anniversary of when the song was originally written. Take My Breath Away was the theme song from the movie, Top Gun.
Castaldo studied voice with Maestro Pisapia, a protégé of the great Italian operatic tenor, Enrico Caruso. He also studied at Oakwood Collegiate Institute in Toronto and is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston. His voice is as warm as Pavarotti, as clear and precise as Carreras, and as broad and dark as Domingo. These attributes serve him well when performing popular and rock music as well. A list of all Castaldo’s performances and accomplishments are available at www.michealcastaldo.com More details on these Columbus Day events will be available soon. Save the date for the dinner dance, which will begin at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $100.00 per person. In addition to his successful entertainment career, Michéal Castaldo founded the New York City Olive Oil Coop (www.NewYorkCityOliveOilCoop.com), the first-ever olive oil cooperative in New York City. The NYC Coop provides high-quality organic extra-virgin olive oil from Castaldo’s family’s estate in Calabria to connoisseurs in North America. He also runs La Dolce Vita Foundation (www.LaDolceVitaFoundation.org), whose mission is to take people suffering from the blues or illness on scenic joy rides in the country in his exotic, customized Mazda Miata convertible roadster.
