Michéal Castaldo releases 8th studio CD, “ Cinecittà Canta” (16 Songs + bonus) dropping on November 24 (Thanksgiving weekend), making it a great stocking stuffer for the Christmas Season

Michéal Castaldo releases his 8th CD, “Cinecittà Canta,” on Vital Records on November 24, 2017, to celebrate some of his favorite classic songs from award-winning films. The title draws attention and celebrates Italy's "Cinema City" in Rome, Italy, where some of the most memorable movie magic happened in Italy by directors and producers such as Federico Fellini, Dino De Laurentiis, Franco Zeffirelli, and Carlo Ponti. American Oscar-winning films, such as Ben-Hur, The Passion Of The Christ, and Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York, were filmed in Rome as well.

Castaldo, an Italian tenor, producer, and songwriter who sings in the style of Andrea Bocelli, is honoring some of his favorite celebrated films and songs from Cinecittà Canta: Africa (from the award-winning video game, Grand Theft Auto V), Brucia La Terra – Parla Piu Piano - Speak Softly Love (from the Oscar-winning film, The Godfather, starring Marlon Brando), Lui Vive In Te - He Lives In You (from the Walt Disney film, The Lion King), Tua Immagine - Sound Of Silence (from the Oscar-winning film, The Graduate, starring Dustin Hoffman), Nella Fantasia - Gabriel's Oboe (from the Oscar-winning film, The Mission, starring Robert De Niro), Il Mio Cuore Va - My Heart Will Go On (from the Oscar-winning film, Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio), Toglimi Il Respiro -Take My Breath Away (from the Oscar-winning film, Top Gun, starring Tom Cruise), L'arcobaleno / Che Meravgilia Il Mondo (Over The Rainbow / What A Wonderful World) (from the film, Meet Joe Black, starring Brad Pitt), Senza Catene - Unchained Melody (from the Oscar-winning film, Ghost, starring Whoopi Goldberg), Nessun Dorma (from the film, The Witches Of Eastwick, starring Susan Sarandon), Preghero' - Stand By Me (from the film, Stand By Me, directed by Rob Reiner), Dove Non So - Somewhere My Love - Lara’s Theme (from the Oscar-winning film, Doctor Zhivago, starring Omar Sharif), Allelulia – Hallelujah (from the Oscar-winning film, Shrek, starring Cameron Diaz), Se Ami Na Fimina - Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman (from the Oscar-nominated film, Don Juan DeMarco, starring Johnny Depp), Can't Help Falling In Love (from the film, Blue Hawaii, starring Elvis Presley), Tu Vuo' Fa' L'americano (from the Oscar-nominated film, The Talented Mr. Ripley starring Matt Damon,) plus bonus track.

Recorded and performed by Castaldo in seven different countries and in the Italian, English, Neapolitan, Sicilian, and Calabrian languages, “Cinecittà Canta” will be available on Amazon.com and select lifestyle stores throughout the USA and Canada. The digital download will be available through iTunes and Amazon, and via streaming on Spotify, etc., in January 2018.

Michéal notes, "Music is the soundtrack of our lives. The making of Cinecittà Canta has been in the works for many, many years. I recall being just 10 years old and had just watched The Graduate on TV, and as soon as The Sound of Silence came on, I quickly grabbed my cassette player and recorded the song direct from the TV speaker. The following week, I bought Simon & Garfunkel’s Greatest Hits LP. Every time I hear that song now, it brings me back to that exact moment." Castaldo hopes, as his fans listen to 68 minutes of the Cinecittà Canta CD, that they will walk down memory lane and capture that moment when they saw the film for the first time.

Castaldo co-produced via Majestic Castle Music Productions, NYC many of the tracks with Norwegian composer/producer, Stein Berge Svendsen, as well as working with other celebrated producers: Emmy award winner Isaac Raz, platinum-selling musician Jon Gordon, and rounding off some songs with co-producers, Dave Hab and Kari Steinert. The CD is mastered by award-winning engineer Mike Fossenkemper, TurtleTone Mastering. The lead track Africa (originally performed by Toto) with Italian lyrics penned by Castaldo, features Jason Bonham on drums. The final track, Tu Vuo' Fa' L'americano, features Michéal’s La Dolce Vita Big Band (music director Mick Gaffney) with a full 13-piece horn section.
Eleven of the songs from the Cinecittà Canta CD were originally released from Michéal’s previous CDs: Aceto, Bergamot, Olive You, and La Dolce Vita 'Namerica, however they're remixed by Ric Schnupp and remastered for the Cinecittà Canta CD. The remaining six songs are new productions or released as digi singles.

Italian born and now New York City resident, Castaldo is an award-winning Italian tenor whose rich operatic voice, strong but soft, is perfect in pitch and tempo and always on key. Castaldo, who studied music at the 80's Berklee Alumni, has toured North America and Europe, including performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Rainbow Room, Citi Field, Toronto’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre (Toronto), Italy’s Teatro Francesco Cilea and the Pescara Opera House. His passionate performances consistently thrill audiences with sweeping romanticism. With the inclusion of the hot swinging Tu Vuo' Fa' L'americano on the Cinecittà Canta CD, Castaldo reaches back to his Jazz studies and looks forward to taking his La Dolce Vita Big Band on tour at many international festivals in 2018.
